About Weight Stories
This project came to life in 2018. Our founder, Hannah, has been developing a work of theatre for many years about the emotional rollercoaster (and political correctness) of weight loss and gain. The work is rooted in lived experience, but we hope represents a universal struggle.
With thanks to Arts Council England, Hannah worked in 2018/19 to R&D PLATE with dramaturg, Sam Redway, as well as developing various engagement arms to tell real women's stories.
Now, in 2021, we enter a fresh phase of PLATE, and in the current world we live in, we would like to help create more connection in a world where we all feel so distant. In order to try to do this we are creating a new audio series for people to share their experiences; where we discuss real, brave women's stories on weight loss and gain.
We know, for us, speaking to real people has had an enormous healing effect and we hope that these shared experiences will help the people who listen.
